Being a parent is a challenging task within itself but one thing is for sure- it is the ultimate learn-as-you-go job. There are days when something works but on other days it may not work at all. Logic and rationale may go out of the window and you might be forced to keep a calm demeanor in the face of extreme stress because the situation calls for it.

There are some striking similarities between the principles of parenting and how it corresponds to the traits and qualities which make leaders stand out. I’ll take a common example to explain my point: as soon as you become a parent, your own needs become secondary.

You are more focused on the child- have they eaten properly? Are they full? Regardless of when you had your last meal.

Parents need to look for the requirement of their kids starting from the day they are born. It is a slow process but once you establish their routine, from waking up to eating, sleeping and going to school, it becomes easy for you.
Same requirement is demanded by a person at workplace who go through different phases in his career so it is important that a leader possesses self-discipline to cater the need of his employees and not to overburden him with orders.

Being a parent makes you sit at driver’s seat as you observe your child’s behavior with each passing time and you tend to provide him what he needs at that very moment. Similarly you should follow this attitude with your workers and be the inspirational leader!
